Werner Noack founded what became NOACK ROSEN in Germany in 1953. Within only a few years, the nursery began specializing in the breeding of healthy garden roses, establishing a philosophy that would become increasingly important as gardeners and professional landscapers looked for roses requiring fewer chemical treatments. The Noack breeding fields intentionally avoided fungicides so varieties with genuinely healthy foliage could be identified rather than chemically protected through testing.
A major breakthrough arrived with Heidetraum®, introduced in 1988. This disease-resistant, free-flowering landscape shrub received Germany's ADR designation and later became internationally marketed as Flower Carpet® Pink. The success helped establish a new generation of durable groundcover and landscape roses and gave the Noack name international recognition. Today's Noack program continues the company's longstanding emphasis on healthy foliage and practical landscape performance.
